BABY MASSAGE TEACHER TRAINING for Professionals
My two training courses have been specially designed for childcare and health professionals who wish to teach baby massage to parent groups. The techniques used for babies can successfully be adapted for older children, with benefits that include better concentration, learning and social skills.
Participants have included health visitors and midwives, nursery nurses, SureStart and Early Years professionals, and qualified massage therapists. Training is available either as an in-house course at your workplace, or for individual sudents on a tutorial basis. See below for details.
Course 1 - Training for organisations
This is a practical “hands-on” course in which participants learn a range of massage techniques, and how to teach these skills to parents. The training sessions include current research findings, health and safety, child protection, and disability awareness.
Students are taught in a variety of ways, including group discussion, practical sessions, working in pairs, audio-visual, and observing a demonstration class with mothers and babies. Home study is required, and a teaching project forms part of the assessment process. Students receive a training manual, and books are available at a discount.
The final assessment involves written and practical tests, with a certificate of proficiency awarded. A low cost Professional Indemnity insurance cover can be arranged for students if required.

Course 2 - Training for individuals
Flexible training dates can be arranged for individual practitioners, with the requirement that you either have professional experience of working with babies, or a massage qualification including membership of the relevant professional body.
The training includes tutorials and attendance at my baby massage classes for observation and practice. It is non-residential so applicants need to be within reach of South London (for baby massage classes) and Orpington, Kent (for tutorials).
Course content is largely the same as above, including home study and teaching practice. A certificate of proficiency is awarded, and professional indemnity insurance can be arranged. A training manual and practice doll are supplied.
