When little adventures feel like a big deal!

As summer arrives, many families start looking forward to a very special milestone, baby's first holiday.

Whether you're heading abroad, enjoying a staycation, or visiting family for a few days, that first trip away can bring a mixture of excitement and apprehension. Alongside dreams of sandy toes and family adventures often come questions about sleep, routines, packing, and how your little one will cope in a new environment.

If this is your first holiday with baby, we want to reassure you that it's completely normal to feel a little nervous.

The truth is, your baby doesn't need a perfect holiday. They simply need you.

It's Okay if Things Look Different

Before becoming parents, holidays may have meant uninterrupted relaxation and spontaneous plans. With a baby in tow, things naturally change.

There may be early wake-ups, feeds by the pool, naps on the go, and evenings spent enjoying a quiet drink on the balcony after bedtime rather than heading out… and thats ok!

Try not to compare your holiday to those you've taken before. Instead, embrace this new chapter and the joy of seeing the world through your baby's eyes for the very first time.

Remember that every family holidays a little differently too. Some may find it easier to go with the flow and skip the routines where as others might find it easier to keep some structure!

Routine Can Travel Too

One of the most common concerns we hear from our mamas is:

"What if we ruin all our hard work with sleep?"

The good news is that routines are much more resilient than we often think.

While holidays may bring a little more flexibility, keeping some familiar elements of your baby's day can provide comfort and reassurance. A familiar bedtime story, sleeping bag, comforter or lullaby can help your little one feel safe and secure, even in an unfamiliar setting.

It's also worth remembering that a holiday is temporary. A few different days won't undo months of consistency at home.

Pack the Essentials – Leave the Pressure Behind

When preparing for your first trip away, it can feel as though you need to pack the entire nursery.

While it's helpful to be organised, try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Most things can be bought if needed, and babies often need far less than we imagine.

Focus on the things that help your little one feel settled and comfortable. Familiar sleep items, feeding essentials, weather-appropriate clothing, and a few favourite toys are often all that's needed.

Follow Baby's Lead

Holidays can be a wonderful opportunity to slow down.

Rather than trying to fit everything in, allow yourselves permission to move at your baby's pace. Pause for feeds, enjoy contact naps, take leisurely walks, and embrace the slower rhythm that family life sometimes brings.

Some of the most treasured holiday memories are often the simplest ones.

A giggle during a paddle in the sea.

A sleepy cuddle under the shade of a tree.

Watching your baby experience something new for the very first time.

Release the pressure by comparing it to previous holidays!

Be Kind to Yourself

If naps are shorter than usual, bedtime takes a little longer, or plans need to change, try not to see it as a failure.

Babies are learning and adapting every day, and new environments can be exciting and overwhelming all at once.

Give yourself permission to let go of perfection.

You don't need to create the perfect holiday. You simply need to be present for the moments that matter.

Creating Memories That Last

Your baby's first holiday is about making memories together. Wherever your summer adventures take you, we hope they are filled with connection, confidence, and plenty of special moments together.

With love,

Kelly & Amy xx
