Choose Presence Over Pressure This Easter
April brings lighter days, the return of long forgotten sunshine, and a breath of fresh air.
But for many Mamas, the excitement of events like Easter can come with a quiet pressure, the pressure to make every moment feel magical and every memory picture-perfect. Especially when it comes to your baby’s “firsts.”
The pressure to capture every perfect photo, plan the cutest Easter outfits, decorate the house, and organise egg hunts can mean that the most important part gets lost… actually being present in the moment.
The reality for many mums is that these days often don’t go to plan. Your baby might nap through most of it, or have a little “poo-nami” disaster in their Easter outfit - which is exactly what happened to Kelly’s firstborn before his Easter themed baby class (pictured above!). He ended up in a random sleepsuit pulled from the nappy bag, and Kelly was so upset all her effort had gone to waste.
But the truth is your baby doesn’t know it’s Easter. All they know is you. Your touch, your presence, your comfort and that’s all they need.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t plan lovely events, but lower the bar on your expectations. Do as much or as little as you want. If it all goes to plan, amazing! And if it doesn’t? That’s perfectly ok too.
Redefining a “Perfect” First Easter
What if “perfect” looked like:
A slow morning together
Cuddles between naps
One simple photo (or none at all)
Letting the day unfold naturally
Because the truth is, the most special moments are often the ones we didn’t plan.
Your baby’s first Easter doesn’t need to be perfect to be special. Choose presence over pressure and don’t forget to add a little chocolate for yourself on the side!
